BIPA response to the Namibian Newspaper Friday, 1 April 2022
BIPA understands client’s frustration by the timeframe of deregistration of businesses. We would like to use this opportunity to explain the process of deregistration and the institutions with which we collaborate.
“In line with the Close Corporation Act of 1988, Section 26 and the Companies Act of 2004, Section 74, deregistering an entity at BIPA takes 3-4 months.
When BIPA receives a deregistration request, the authority has to liaise with the Social Security Commission, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Justice before an entity can be finally deregistered. The framework for responding differ between institutions contributing to the finalisation period. Full information is available on our social media pages and website.
